Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has unveiled its new cabin crew uniforms designed by renowned Pakistani fashion designer

Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, popularly known as HSY. The new collection combines modern fashion, Pakistani cultural heritage and practical features aimed at improving comfort for crew members on long-haul flights.

The unveiling marks another step in the national airline’s efforts to refresh its image and create a more contemporary identity for passengers travelling on domestic and international routes.

HSY Brings Pakistani Fashion to PIA

HSY, one of Pakistan’s most recognised fashion designers, has been selected to create the latest look for PIA’s cabin crew. Known for his couture designs, celebrity styling and contributions to the Pakistani fashion industry, the designer brings a distinctive blend of traditional influences and modern tailoring to the airline.

According to PIA, the new uniform collection follows a comfort-focused design philosophy. The outfits have been developed to allow crew members to move comfortably while maintaining a professional and polished appearance throughout their duties.

The designs incorporate soft, breathable fabrics and structured tailoring, with particular attention to durability and ease of movement during long-haul operations.

The new PIA cabin crew uniforms aim to showcase Pakistan’s cultural identity through carefully considered colours, detailing and craftsmanship. At the same time, the collection embraces contemporary international fashion standards.

The airline said the designs are intended to reflect national pride and the warmth of Pakistani hospitality while giving cabin crew members greater confidence and comfort at work.

HSY described the project as an opportunity to represent Pakistan on the international stage through fashion. The collection seeks to balance cultural traditions with a modern aesthetic suitable for a major international airline.

New Uniforms to Debut on October 31

Passengers are expected to see the new uniforms in service from October 31, 2026. According to the airline, the collection will make its official debut aboard PIA’s inaugural Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight from London to Islamabad.

The launch will introduce the refreshed cabin crew appearance on a significant international flight and provide a public showcase for the new designs.

The wider rollout of the uniforms is part of PIA’s efforts to strengthen its visual identity as the airline works to modernise its operations and improve its international image.

PIA Continues Its Long Fashion Legacy

PIA has a long history of working with prominent designers to develop distinctive cabin crew uniforms.

In 1966, French fashion designer Pierre Cardin created the airline’s celebrated A-line tunic and hood, helping establish PIA’s reputation for stylish aviation uniforms. During the 1970s, British designer Sir Hardy Amies, known for his work as Queen Elizabeth II’s royal couturier, also contributed to the airline’s uniform heritage.

More recently, Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari’s uniform designs remained part of PIA’s identity for approximately 12 years.

HSY’s appointment continues this tradition, bringing another leading name in Pakistani fashion into the airline’s visual history.

A Fresh Chapter for Pakistan International Airlines

The introduction of the new uniforms represents more than a change in appearance. It forms part of PIA’s broader effort to present a modern, professional image while highlighting Pakistan’s culture and hospitality to international travellers.

However, the long-term impact of the refreshed look will also depend on the airline’s ability to deliver reliable operations, comfortable journeys and quality customer service.

With the new collection scheduled to debut on October 31, PIA is preparing to introduce a new visual identity that brings together fashion, functionality and national pride.

The collaboration between PIA and HSY highlights the role Pakistani designers can play in representing the country on international platforms while preserving the cultural influences that make its fashion industry distinctive.
